The Negroni. It doesn’t get much better. This one has Aviation Gin, Campari, Martini Rosso Vermouth, stirred and strained over ice. Garnished with a flamed orange coin. Like I said, it doesn’t get much better.
Here’s how to make it…
1 oz Aviation Gin (or any London Dry Gin of your choice)
1 oz Campari
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
Orange Coin for Garnish (you get this by cutting straight down the side of an orange, taking only the peel and yielding a coin shaped piece of orange peel, a little bigger than a quarter)
Old Fashioned Glass
Jigger for measuring
Add the Gin, Campari, and Vermouth to the mixing glass
Put the cracked ice into the glass so that it’s about 2/3s full
Stir for at least 20 seconds
Put the ice cubes into the Old fashioned glass
Strain into the glass over the ice
If you feel adventurous, flame the orange coin by doing the following: Light a match, and hold it in one hand. Squeeze the orange coin by holding it curling it in half between your thumb and finger just behind the match and over the drink. This will squeeze the essential oils from the orange and they will burst into a tiny flame. Then rub the orange around the rim of the glass and drop it into the cocktail.
Sit back and enjoy!
